Server1 Hard Drive Failure (06-15-06)
« on: June 16, 2006, 02:15:47 am »

Hi everyone. I regret to inform you all that the hard drive in the new server that was built three weeks ago died yesterday. All data is backed up every morning at around 1:00 AM Eastern time, so all paid accounts* have been restored to their state as of Thursday morning at 1:00 AM. Any data between 1:00 AM and around 12:00 PM Eastern time cannot be recovered, but thankfully the time between the daily backup and the failure was not longer.

We deeply apologize about this inconvenience and understand how unprofessional it is to you and your customers/users to be down for periods of time like this. We had a great track record for stability, but the motherboard/CPU failure of 3 weeks ago started a chain of downtime during that day, and now the failure yesterday happened. We did our absolute best to get things back online as fast as possible, but unfortunately it did take longer than it should have for our datacenter to reinstall things on the new drive before we could begin our work restoring things. We are currently re-evaluating our providers and may make some changes in the coming weeks and months. Any news on that will be posted well in advance.

Thank you very much for your ongoing patience and understanding. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to reply to this thread and I will respond asap. If something is not working correctly after the restore, please open a trouble ticket and we will get right on it.

-Mark

* = "Paid Accounts" means accounts that are current on their billing. Accounts that have not been paid in more than six months and have not made or responded to any contact with us are considered abandoned and will not be restored
